Coach Gbinije is a retired professional basketball player who played in the NBA, NBA G League, and Overseas. Michael grew up in Chester, Virginia. The Virginia native was a Jordan Brand All-American and attended Duke University his freshman year of college. After one season at Duke, Michael then decided to transfer to Syracuse. At Syracuse University, Michael averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists his senior year and went to the Final 4.
After Syracuse, Michael was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 2016 NBA draft. He played a full season on the Pistons Roster.
After Michael’s rookie year with the Pistons, he spent a total of 3 seasons in the NBA G League and played Overseas in 4 different countries (Germany, Lithuania, South Africa, Iran).
Now, Michael uses his playing experiences and lessons learned to help the program and players reach a higher level.
